About IGS
Expanding golf with new technology is nothing new to this management team. It successfully did this before and with new technologies available today, we feel it's time to do it again.
IGS is formed from a team of business and golf company professionals, who led the way in the late 1990's and early 2000's in making golf an online experience from every angle one could imagine. For seven years during that period, our company, Idea Center, Inc. led the way with golf courses, hotels, retailers, merchandisers, media and golf-related entities as part of our network. When it became obvious that we were too early to justify the multi-million dollar annual investment into staying in and growing the business, the team went on to other things, many successful. But golf was always one that we decided when technology was available, and we could find a unique way to use it, we would re-enter the playing field.
When we left our golf company in 2003, there just wasn't a powerful enough Internet infrastructure to support the volume of transactions one would need to justify a continuing investment. It was dollars and cents, plain and simple. We created the largest programming staff of any company in Las Vegas, and could not support that manpower investment waiting for the Internet to develop more.
Fast forward to 2016.
Along the way, reservation systems have been funded enough to allow mass transactions and data bases to play a major role. Third parties have provided systems like GolfNow, and many others. Hotel reservations are now online, and everyone is much more comfortable doing business online. So, our team had no reason to get involved again, except for one thing. What if there was new technology to create new golfing interest in communities, such that the middlemen, of which we were one, were not needed any more. What if we could establish an online relationship peer-to-peer between the player and the golf course, with no one else having influence or interference in the transaction. We thought with this type of peer-to-peer relationship that golf could solve the two biggest problems it has.
First, the game is declining, and not enough younger golfers are replacing the older ones leaving. Secondly, many new possible players are turned off by the pompous arrogant, infrastructure of the game. Golf, to some people appears not to be the place for an everyday person. It is just for wealthy people, corporate owners, not just an everyday guy who wants to play. Circa 2018, people just want to feel appreciated, and don't want to look up to some windbag member who has more money or owns more property.
So for the last two years, we have been investigating the blockchain and cryptocurrency worlds. We looked at cryptocurrency, not as a currency medium, but as a marketing tool, that could change the playing field such that smaller, local, independent golf courses could succeed in a shrinking market, and compete with those corporations that were buying distressed course and obtaining economies of scale the smaller owners couldn't achieve. After two years, and much discussion inside and outside the industry, we decided to go again and try to transform golf with the new world, almost an Internet, version 3, including blockchain technology, with our crypto token, which we have named the GToken©. Over the last year, specifically, we have designed systems and techniques that, we believe can truly transform golf. We should be able to attract younger golfers, by introducing them to golf through the tournament structure. They can attend tournaments, play in local tournaments, but the key first attraction may very well be the new IGS crypto token that will cause them to investigate.
We have seen firsthand, the challenges golf has had in a declining market. It's time for golf to wake up and embrace technology from within and allow a new element to have control in the game. IGS is formed to help golf accomplish this. People in control of golf now will not be happy if millennials, for example, begin barging into their privacy. Large corporate golf conglomerates won't be happy. But the local player, the community, and the charities so well-supported by the game of golf, will all be better for the new crypto token IGS is introducing.
The key component we believe we have to offer is the introduction of the GToken© as a marketing tool, a marketing tool the likes of which have never before been seen in the game. The sooner the game of golf embraces some new and innovative methods, the quicker the game will again deliver the satisfaction it is capable of giving.
