AVOFEST, short for the California Avocado Festival features three days of peace,love and guacamole. Why? Well..Santa Barbara County is the third largest avocado producer in North America. The first avocado trees in California were planted around 1871 and the state grows a whopping 90 percent of the crop harvested in the US.
Be sure to come hungry! Here is where you will find the largest vat of guacamole in the US and sample dips, salads and countless other yummy concoctions and the KIDS VENUE is home of the Best Dressed Avocado Contest!
Signature events include the World Champion of Guacamole contest and largest avocado weigh-offs (they sometimes reach more than four pounds). To keep things hopping, the festival includes more than 75 musical acts on four stages.
